The College has a Research committee constituted by the Governing Body of the college. The members of the Committee motivate faculty members to undertake research projects. The College every year organizes workshops, conferences, popular lectures, etc. The college has a budget allocation for research every year and provides the fund for registration fees to attend seminars, purchasing chemicals, sample analysis and felicitation to the faculties for their contribution to research. Teachers are encouraged to pursue PhD degrees and to publish their research papers in national and international journals. Except departmental research facilities, the College also has a Central Research Laboratory and Instrumentation Centre, known as P C Roy Central Research Laboratory.

Research Funding:
The College has an annual allocation of Rs 80000/- in budget for research. Central Research Center, Incubation Center, Network Resource Centre, Computer Laboratories for Mathematics. e- Library facility was established from CPE and RUSA grant.
Central Library:
This library is used for reference books, digitized manuscript, research journals, rare books, Inflibnet, plagiarism detection software, Grammarly software etc. The library also has Network Resource Centre with high-speed internet that helps to access e-resources smoothly
Research Activities:
§ Research Projects:
A total of 10 Minor Research Projects and 1 Major Research project funded by the University Grants Commission were received.
§ Patent Received:
One of the faculty members (Dr Anupam Ghosh) has filed one national patents (DST) in collaboration with the University of Burdwan (T.I. (56)/TIFA/2014]
§ Research Guidance:
14 faculties have been recognized as Research Guides. Altogether 41 scholars have been registered as PhD candidates under their supervision. Two scholars have been awarded their doctoral degrees.
§ Publication of Research papers
A total of 120 research Papers were published in UGC Care enlisted journals along with 94 books/book chapters. 83 research papers were also published in journals not approved by UGC.
§ Publication of Journals
The College has regularly published two research journals with ISSN number:
v Wesleyan Journal of Research, a UGC approved, multi-disciplinary peer-reviewed (ISSN: 0975-1386) journal, being published since 2008.
v Appropriations, a UGC approved, peer-reviewed ISSN (0975-1521) journal, being published by the Department of English (since 2005).
The journals are published once in a year. The journals have online submission policy, ethical guidelines and plagiarism checking software. Both the journals do not levy any publication or processing charges.
v Edited volumes were published from the Dept. of Geography and Economics. Seminar proceedings were also published regularly by the college.
§ Publication of Eco-Focus
The college publishes an ecological newsletter Ecofocus.
§ Seminars organized:
A total of 21 conferences/workshops/seminars were organized. Seventeen popular lectures were also arranged by different departments with reputed resource persons. College hosted the Science Fair and 1st Regional Science and Technology Congress-2016 in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology.
§ Awards Received:
Seven faculty members have received state/national or international level awards and a number of teachers are working as the Editorial Board member of many National/International Journals. Many faculty members also act as subject expert in different selection board.
§ Sky observatory: The Mitchell Sky Observatory under the supervision of the department of Physics is being extensively used for observations and experimentations.
§ Automatic Weather station and Ambient Air Quality Pollution Display Board: The Automatic Weather Station of the department of Geography provides important weather-related information to the college as well as to the community at large and the data collected thus are used for researches of varied nature.
§ MoU: The College has MoU with different colleges, industries/Organization/NGOs to contribute in the community development and research.
§ Faculty Development Programme: Teachers are encouraged to undergo FDP and participate in conferences, seminars, training programme and workshops. The college also provides Duty Leave and No Objection during FDP.
§ Research Instruments:
Some major research instruments like UV-VIS spectrophotomer, IR-Spectrophotometer were also purchased from UGC, CPE-BSR or college contribution.
